TO TEST NEW BULLET
After
failing to qualify for the ARCA/Daytona race in
2008, the team has regrouped and is excited to
have the chance to go back and build on what we
learned the last time. First and foremost, there
is a new "bullet" under the hood. This
is a purpose built restrictor plate engine. It has
all of the light weight and low friction parts in
the bottom end and all of the top end technology
obtained from the 5 time Daytona winning team of
Bobby Gerhart. The engine was recently dyno tested
to about 413 hp, which is close to 25 hp more than
we had the last time we hit the high banks. The
other area of improvement is in the front end
geometry. We have spent many hours simulating the
"aero-compression" encountered at 180
mph to get the proper travel of all of the
suspension parts to maximize fender clearance at
the same time of minimizing unwanted wheel scrub.
With this combination of improvements, we hope to
have a shot at breaking into the top 35 required
to qualify on speed without a provisional. The
test should give us a good picture of how close we
are.
As usual, this is a team effort that has had help
from many dedicated individuals. I would like to
thank them for all of the long hours and sharing
of their resources to get the needed parts and
pieces.
